چکیده

Abstract Purpose Root growth, respiration, water uptake as well root exudation induce biogeochemical patterns in the rhizosphere that can change dynamically over time. Our aim is to develop a method provides complementary information on 3D system architecture and gradients around roots needed for quantitative description of processes. Methods We captured first time maize plants grown rectangular rhizotrons using neutron computed laminography (NCL). Simultaneously, we measured pH oxygen concentration fluorescent optodes 2D soil distribution by means radiography. co-registered data with maps analyze sensor signal function distance between optode. Results The was successfully segmented from laminographic data. found up 2 mm optode induced local acidification or alkalization. Over time, emerged 7.5 mm. Conclusion Neutron allows three-dimensional investigation systems laterally extended ones designed imaging studies. position within derived NCL explained distribution. presented new combination methods facilitates systematical investigations wide range dynamic processes rhizosphere.

Applying a Priori Information to Computed Laminography

Reconstructed 3D volumes from computed laminography data suffer from blurring artefacts due to the laminographic geometry. Such losses in quality can be tackled by the use of a priori information about the test object which can be integrated into the iterative reconstruction process. However, this requires the position of the a priori model to be fitted exactly to the measured data. A (semi-)au...

On the implementation of computed laminography using synchrotron radiation.

Hard x rays from a synchrotron source are used in this implementation of computed laminography for three-dimensional (3D) imaging of flat, laterally extended objects. Due to outstanding properties of synchrotron light, high spatial resolution down to the micrometer scale can be attained, even for specimens having lateral dimensions of several decimeters. Operating either with a monochromatic or...

Computed Laminography for X-ray Inspection of Lightweight Constructions

Computed laminography (CL) is an alternative to computed tomography if large objects are to be inspected with high resolution. This is especially true for planar objects. Algebraic reconstruction technique (ART) enhance the quality of laminographic images and permits scanning geometries which cannot be reconstructed by conventional tomosynthesis. Thus ART expands the capabilities of 3D inspecti...

Multi-scale 3d Imaging of Carbon Fibre Laminate Impact and Compression after Impact Damage Using Computed Tomography and Laminography

3D X-ray computed tomography (CT) was used to study the effects of particle toughening within unidirectional carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) materials subjected to impact damage, followed by ex situ CT of compression after impact (CAI) tests at incremental loads. A multi-scale approach utilizing synchrotron radiation CT and laminography was used to study the damage micro-mechanisms of im...
